Salzburg, Austria

Our next stop was Austria. My parents had visited Austria before we got there, so they gave us good tips on what we should see and do. Austria was another beautiful country. Everywhere we went on this trip we were surrounded with the most breathtaking views. It's hard to pick a favorite country, but Austria was up there with one of my favorites!

They have a tourist card called the Salzburg card which was awesome. It was like $40 and basically all touristy things were included in that cost so we didn't have to pay for any other entrance fees or transportation fees since bus was included.

Our hotel was like 20 minutes outside of the city surrounded by so many shades of green trees. It was a cool hotel because our room was a two story suite and had the most amazing spa and sauna/steamroom area.

For dinner the first night, we just ate at our hotel. The menu said ham, potatoes, and asparagus. I was thinking it was going to be like a ham steak with potatoes and thin asparagus which sounded so good. When my food came out, I was sooooo disappointed. It was expensive so I didn't want to order a second meal but basically it was 5 huge pieces of white asparagus and like 5 tiny potatoes!! haha. I was trying to just eat it without thinking since I was so hungry, but it didn't taste good to me at all. Andrew was sweet and shared his meat with me since mine was gross. The menu said to give them 20 minutes to make the souffle for dessert, so we ordered it when we got our meal. Like 50 minutes after eating we still hadn't gotten it, and we were just waiting for it. After like an hour of being done with our meal, we finally asked if they had it ready. Our server says, "Oh you want a souffle? We are closing soon so we won't have time to make it." hahaha I was like you're kidding me......so unfortunately no dessert that night. Such a disappointment!!

There are so many sights to see in Salzburg! We went to cathedrals, residenzplatz, hohensalzburg fortress, Mirabell gardens, Mozart's residence, the Salzburg zoo, museums, churches, and up the Untersburg mountain. It was so much fun exploring this city together.

love these souvenirs-- He made this for us in less than 5 minutes!
Look familiar from Sound of Music?!--Mirrabel Gardens

When we went up to Untersberg it was getting cold and rainy. When we got to the top it was snowy and freezing cold! I was only in flip flops, so it wasn't too pleasant for me. It was a bummer to not see the full view of the city below because of all the clouds, but it was still pretty from up there.

The bus took us right by the zoo on our way home from the mountain, so since it was kind of raining we decided to stop by since the cost was covered in the tourist card.

Austria definitely didn't disappoint. Another great place to visit when in Europe!!
