School unfortunately has taken over my life....so finally finishing our Europe travel 5 months later :)
After our week in Germany, we took the train to meet Andrew in Switzerland. I was so happy to finally be reuniting with him! Traveling anywhere with him is the best.
Switzerland was unlike any place I had ever seen. The perfect place to start our 4th anniversary trip. I was in awe of the beautiful views every single time I walked outside. If I could recommend a place to visit it would definitely be Switzerland. The only downside was that everything was really expensive, but the views made up for it.
We stayed in Zurich, but rented a car so we could go to some of the other cities I had done some research about. Andrew felt pretty cool renting a BMW so we could really cruise through the Swiss Alps. (he wasn't quite as pumped when I rented a tiny Fiat 500 for our long road trip from Venice to Cinque Terre later haha) My parents were only staying in Switzerland for 2 days before heading to other places and we were staying for 4, so we made sure to pack those two days full of activities first.
The day we got there we just stayed in Zurich and explored around the city. We had to wait about an hour before we could check into our hotel, so we walked around the mall that was right by our hotel. After checking in, we met back up with my parents and went to the downtown area to eat and walk around.
The next day we woke up early and drove to Interlaken which was INSANELY gorgeous. ahhh those views will be forever engraved in my head. We were going to hike up Harder Kulm, but decided to just take the train up and back so we could have more time to go other places that day. It was pretty cheap to take the train, and lunch was included on the top of the mountain which was a great perk.
heading up to the top of Harder Kulm
Interlaken is a must see if you are in Switzerland! Then we drove to and hiked around Grindelwald. I loved how green everything was especially with the mountains in the background.
ha, who knows what is going on in this picture :)
It was such a perfect day. I was a little bummed because I had wanted to do a zip line type thing that I had seen online, but they were closed for a 2 week maintenance period during the week we were there so we never got to but that's okay, saved us money anyways.
The next day we drove to Lucerne. Another must-see in my opinion.
can't remember the name of this pretty church because we saw soooo many churches on this trip!
such a charming city
walking across the chapel bridge
dying lion monument
The next day we dropped my parents off at the train station, and we spent an overcast day going to museums in Zurich.
We had an amazing time visiting Switzerland but were excited to head to Munich, Germany in hopes of cheaper food! haha. If I could go back to Switzerland some day, I absolutely would! One day I hope we can go back to ski those beautiful Swiss Alps.
